Speakers

Paul Ettinger

Company Name: Caffè Nero
Job Title: International Development of Food, Beverage and Music

Speaker Profile:
Born in London to German/Austrian parents Paul went to school in the UK country and Austria. His first degree was in High Energy Physics then, following a couple of years travelling the Libyan desert looking for oil, he did an MBA at Insead in France. On graduation he joined Courtaulds where he worked in various positions within the European chemical industry, finally spending five years developing new businesses in Asia and in European M&A.

In 1997 he helped a friend acquire and run five coffee bars and develop the business. This became Caffè Nero. The business floated in 2001 on the London stock exchange and has developed in to over 400 coffee bars across the UK, the UAE and Turkey. For ten years he was responsible for all food and beverage development, purchasing and distribution but is now focused on International food and beverage and the expanding music sponsorship programme, which has become an increasingly important part of the Caffè Nero brand. He is also a non-executive director of his wife's chain of private physiotherapy practices, the family luxury leather goods business and an internet social networking web site. In his spare time he plays jazz piano, writes music, cooks and skis.
